Andrea Turner

Andrea TurnerAndréa j Turner is running for her second term on the KPFA Local Station Board. She was vice chair and chair consecutively for two years on the LSB and is currently representing KPFA on the Pacific National Board. She is a Senior Services Program Director in the City of Oakland’s Department of Human Services.  She is a rebel rouser, former political director, and current member in the Oakland chapter of Local 21. She is a cultural and community activist serving as musical director in Vukani Mawethu choir, performing South African Freedom songs; sings on picket lines and demonstrations with The Freedom Song Network.  She currently serves as the board chair for A Safe Place, a domestic violence program; and, serves on the board of East Bay Peace Action. She is a 2009 honoree in the Community Works Exhibition: Stories Behind the Songs.
